A blues boogie about jamming and how some players move ahead, others sit still, but all have something worthwhile to hear.
My friend Jason Christiansen went to the national finals in the Guitar Center Blues Guitar competition a few years back. I was inspired to write this for him.
I went to a blues jam the other day,
and saw some players that blew me away
Talked to the guitar man when he was done,
he told me he was up there just having fun
Music is a wave and you ride the crest,
It's stupid to say anybody's the best
Been playing guitar 47 years,
lots of roadhouses, gallons of beer
Tried to learn everything I could
to play that machine of steel and wood
If you get to a place you ain't learning no more,
Remember one mans ceiling is another man's floor
One man's ceiling, played with feeling
Got 'em rocking and reeling, crying out for more
One man's ceiling, Do the best that you can do
Reaching for the heart, satisfy your soul,
One man's ceiling is another man's floor
Woke up this morning, wrote down this song,
came right out, didn't take too long
If you try to play music and it don't come out right
it's because you're treating it like a fight
So go out and find the elevator door,
see what's on that brand new floor
One man's ceiling, played with feeling
Got 'em rocking and reeling, crying out for more
One man's ceiling, Do the best that you can do
Reaching for the heart, satisfy your soul,
One man's ceiling is another man's floor
Reaching for the heart, satisfy your soul,
One man's ceiling is another man's floor
Reaching for the heart, satisfy your soul,
One man's ceiling is another man's floor
