Story behind the song
You Split the Sky" was written as a declaration of breakthrough. Its a song of divine rescue when life felt dark, confusing, or hopeless, God showed up in a supernatural way. Inspired by the imagery of God parting the heavens in Psalm 18:9 and tearing the veil in Matthew 27:51, this worship anthem celebrates the power of God's love to invade our lowest moments. Each verse reflects a journey: from despair to deliverance, from brokenness to freedom, from silence to victory. Its a testimony wrapped in melody a reminder that when we couldnt reach God, He came down and reached us first.
Lyrics
--- **Verse 1** When the night had closed me in When my hope was wearing thin You came down and reached for me With a voice that set me free **Chorus** You split the sky And called me through You made a way When I had no clue You tore the veil So I could fly I walk in freedom 'Cause You split the sky --- **Verse 2** You found me in my broken place You wrapped me in redeeming grace You spoke the storm into a hush You fought for me with holy rush **Chorus** You split the sky And called me through You made a way When I had no clue You tore the veil So I could fly I walk in freedom 'Cause You split the sky --- **Verse 3** Now I stand on sacred ground Your love still echoes all around The chains I wore are gone for good You did just what You said You would **Chorus** You split the sky And called me through You made a way When I had no clue You tore the veil So I could fly I walk in freedom 'Cause You split the sky --- **Verse 4** I wont forget what You have done The battles over, the war is won Forever Yours, I lift my eyes To the One who split the skies **Chorus** You split the sky And called me through You made a way When I had no clue You tore the veil So I could fly I walk in freedom 'Cause You split the sky
